Original British Box-lock Pocket Flintlock Pistol by Heaton & Smith of London with Turn-Off Barrel - circa 1810

Regular price $995.00

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely little British "Box-Lock" style Pocket Flintlock pistol, featuring a 2 1/2 inch "turn off" .42" bore barrel, which at this time is unfortunately frozen to the frame. It is signed on the sides of the "Box-lock" with HEATON & SMITH on the left, and LONDON on the right. This is a known maker of flintlock pocket pistols during the early 19th century in London, though we are unfortunately not able to find out much about the company. The bottom of the frame is marked with the pre-1813 London Proof House P "proof" and V "viewed" markings.

The pistol follows the classic style, with some nice line engraving, and is fitted with a very nice slab-sided curved grip, which is in very good shape. Overall condition is very nice, and it has a great look. The lock is fully functional, holding at half-cock and firing at full.

A really nice early 19th Century British pocket flintlock pistol, ready to research and display!
